3DCoat Textura is Pilgway's current application for texture painting and rendering, with Paint and Render tools drawn from the broader 3DCoat suite. Artists paint on a model in the 3D viewport and inspect the texture in the 2D Texture Editor. Its surface workflow includes layers and groups, blending, Smart Materials, and work across color or albedo, roughness or glossiness, metalness, and depth-derived detail.

  • The native .3b project and editable painting data stay in Textura.

When to use RENDERCAD with 3DCoat Textura

A painted prop, product, accessory, or hard-surface asset may read correctly in Textura yet need a separate presentation direction. Choose a 3D viewport angle that exposes the decisions under discussion: edge wear, decals, color breakup, metalness, gloss or roughness response, and depth-derived detail.

From that flat capture, RENDERCAD can explore a studio backdrop, campaign mood, portfolio cover, or review image. The result communicates an idea rather than proving the asset is technically correct. Keep the native .3b project in Textura for layers, maps, mesh information, UV review, and final surface decisions.

In Textura, choose the layer and group visibility for the review, check blending and Smart Material placement, and inspect the asset in the 3D viewport. Open the 2D Texture Editor when existing UV context or painted coverage informs the decision. Frame one clear angle, then hide brushes, selections, gizmos, panels, and reference clutter.

Save the chosen frame as one clean PNG or JPEG, then state one presentation goal in RENDERCAD. Compare the option with the source Textura view and return to the .3b project for corrections. Meshes, UVs, layers, maps, material IDs, cameras, lights, render passes, and animation remain outside this flat-image handoff.

Adjust one visual area

Mark part of the presentation still and request a visual adjustment. Only pixels change; the Textura project, layers, maps, mesh, and material IDs remain untouched.

Test material presentation moods

Switch image models while exploring studio treatment, atmosphere, or backdrop. Check every interpretation against the source Textura view because painted details may drift subtly.

Two distinct jobs

Textura builds the editable painted asset and its native render. RENDERCAD interprets a single flattened view as separate presentation imagery.

Prepare the painted view

Choose the intended layers, Smart Materials, channel display, camera angle, and lighting in Textura. Keep important labels and surface transitions readable, then remove interface clutter before making the flat source image.

A saved PNG or JPEG can enter through the browser; the desktop app can capture an on-screen region. Neither path opens .3b files or adds a Textura integration.

Keep the native .3b project in Textura and export one flat PNG or JPEG for RENDERCAD. No plugin, package, or direct integration transfers editable painting or model data.

Use the 3D viewport for material response, silhouette, labels, wear, and framing. A flat texture view helps show painted coverage across existing islands. Neither capture provides editable UV data.

Show the chosen layer and group state, useful lighting, and relevant surface details. Hide brushes, selections, gizmos, panels, and unrelated references, while leaving room for a clean crop.

The still can show whether surface contrast and finish separation read at the chosen scale. Verify each paint channel, exported map, seam, and coverage issue inside Textura.

Those remain in Textura. RENDERCAD receives pixels only, so layers, groups, blending, Smart Material settings, maps, IDs, mesh data, and native project structure cannot be recovered from the result.

Keep the technical material review in Textura. Use RENDERCAD to discuss atmosphere, backdrop, framing, and presentation after painting is established, while judging editable surface construction, UV context, channel behavior, and map quality in Textura.

Mask the region and describe one visual change, such as a quieter backdrop reflection or clearer label. Compare with the Textura view because this edits pixels, not the underlying material setup.

Compare with the source Textura capture. Check silhouette, labels, color relationships, wear, material separation, and key surface details. Generated video adds motion from the still; it transfers no camera, lights, passes, or animation.
