Its design views help teams judge proportion, silhouette, highlight flow, and material direction before or alongside a dedicated visualization workflow.

  • Polished visuals from Autodesk Alias design views.
  • No plugin and nothing to install inside Autodesk Alias. Render from a viewport screenshot.
  • No native CAD export or source-model upload is required: submit a selected viewport screenshot instead.
  • Image renders complete in 60 seconds.

When to use RENDERCAD with Autodesk Alias

Autodesk Alias is used by industrial and automotive design teams to develop concept forms and refine Class-A surfaces. A clean Alias design view can make an exterior theme, wheel, lamp, interior trim detail, or consumer product form easy to evaluate for silhouette, proportion, highlight flow, panel breaks, and color direction. RENDERCAD is useful when that working view needs to become a more persuasive visual for a styling review, design proposal, CMF discussion, or early marketing concept. Start with a view that clearly shows the intended form and a representative material assignment, rather than a technical analysis view. The resulting image can help communicate a chosen design direction without requiring every stakeholder to open the Alias model. It does not replace Alias for curve and surface quality decisions: continuity, reflection analysis, tolerances, and the editable design data remain the source of truth in the CAD workflow.

In Autodesk Alias, frame a shaded or VRED-rendered viewport around the design question: a three-quarter vehicle view for proportion, a side view for profile, or a close-up for a trim, lamp, or surface transition. Use an angle with readable reflections and material areas, then hide CVs, construction curves, diagnostic shading, selection highlights, and other review-only overlays. Capture the clean image and send it to RENDERCAD to develop a presentation visual around the approved viewpoint. Compare a small set of visual directions for a design review, CMF conversation, proposal board, or product story. When the team needs final geometric accuracy or a controlled sequence of views, return to Alias and, where appropriate, a dedicated VRED scene for the authoritative model, materials, cameras, and rendering setup.

Cutting Edge AI Engine

RENDERCAD uses a maintained selection of image-generation models for different rendering tasks. Results can vary by model and input, so compare generated output with the source design before relying on geometry, materials, or dimensions.

Questions & Answers

Common solutions for Autodesk Alias users

Choose the Orbit camera preset in the Video panel. Review the generated clip because viewpoint changes and product details can vary from a single-image input.

Use the RENDERCAD Overlay to capture a clear viewport without rebuilding a separate render scene. Image renders complete in 60 seconds.

Yes. A current desktop capture app and browser extension are available, and the browser upload workflow remains available without either tool.

Start with a sharp input, choose the Realistic engine, and use 4K when additional output resolution is needed. Higher resolution does not recover source detail that is missing or guarantee geometry fidelity.

Generation runs on cloud infrastructure, so a local rendering GPU is not required. The laptop still needs a supported browser, network access, and enough resources for the source application and image upload.

The core workflow is available in a supported browser and accepts a selected 2D image, so it does not require a rendering plugin in the source application.

The model can reinterpret curves and surface transitions from the 2D input. Compare the result with the source because edges and geometry can drift.

It accepts a clear viewport screenshot, so a separate local material, light, and camera scene is not required for the image-generation workflow.

It lets you describe motion, steam, lighting changes, or atmosphere for a generated clip. Added details may not exist in the source model.

With the Realistic engine selected, use Add Instruction to attach an authorized material image and describe how it should guide the render. The reference guides the generated image; it does not modify the native Autodesk Alias model or guarantee a material match.

Yes. Mask the region that needs adjustment and provide a focused instruction. RENDERCAD generates a new image, so inspect both the targeted region and the rest of the output for drift.

Yes, if the license permits this use. A stock image can guide a background or environment, while placement and lighting remain generated interpretations.
