Use a composed Vectorworks viewport, saved view, or camera view to develop presentation render concepts for architecture, landscape, interior, and entertainment design work.

  • Develop presentation render concepts from Vectorworks saved views, camera views, and sheet layer viewports.
  • No plugin and nothing to install inside Vectorworks. Render from a viewport screenshot.
  • No native CAD export or source-model upload is required: submit a selected viewport screenshot instead.
  • Image renders complete in 60 seconds.

When to use RENDERCAD with Vectorworks

Vectorworks users can build a proposal around design layers, classes, saved views, Renderworks cameras, and sheet layer viewports. That makes a selected viewport a useful visual brief: it already communicates the chosen camera, projection, model extent, and visible design information. RENDERCAD can develop that view into an exploratory still for a facade review, lobby or residential interior, planted site perspective, exhibition concept, theatre scene, or event venue. Start from a clean export and describe only the presentation direction that is not yet resolved, such as time of day, atmosphere, furnishing character, planting maturity, material mood, or activity. The resulting image is useful for early client conversations, mood comparisons, and marketing-oriented design studies. It should not replace Vectorworks for BIM coordination, measured geometry, class and layer control, viewport updates, drawings, or final construction documentation.

Capture.
Render.
Done.

In Vectorworks, begin with the view that best tells the proposal story. A saved view can preserve orientation, rendering choices, and class and layer visibility; for perspective work, a Renderworks camera can establish the view used by a sheet layer viewport. Refine the viewport independently with the intended crop, projection, visible layers and classes, materials, lighting, background, and image effects. For an AI starting image, export a clean still without dimensions, notes, title blocks, selection highlights, or other construction-only information. Upload that image to RENDERCAD and give a focused brief, for example a warm evening arrival sequence, a restrained hospitality interior, a fully planted courtyard, or an audience-ready stage scene. Compare variations against the Vectorworks view and carry only approved design decisions back into the model. Keep Vectorworks and its viewport render settings as the source of truth when geometry, visibility, documentation, or a repeatable native render must remain accurate.

Cutting Edge AI Engine

RENDERCAD uses a maintained selection of image-generation models for different rendering tasks. Results can vary by model and input, so compare generated output with the source design before relying on geometry, materials, or dimensions.

Feature RENDERCAD Vectorworks rendering and Vectorworks Cloud Services
Engine Generative AI Built-in Shaded and Renderworks rendering, with Renderworks styles that can include realistic, artistic, or Redshift by Maxon settings where available
Output Images + Video Rendered design views and sheet layer viewports, exported images, panoramas, and animation or presentation outputs depending on the Vectorworks product and workflow
Resolution HD / 4K Set through viewport, sheet, export, and render settings; usable output depends on scene complexity and available computing resources
Image Speed Image renders complete in 60 seconds. Varies with render mode or style, geometry, textures, lights, backgrounds, image effects, and available local or cloud computing resources
Video Speed Videos complete in 2-5 minutes. Animation and presentation output depend on the selected workflow, scene complexity, output settings, and available computing resources
Scene Set Up No separate local scene Establish a saved view or camera, set class and layer visibility, then control viewport rendering with render modes or styles, materials, lights, backgrounds, and image effects
Input Screen Snip Vectorworks design layers and models, saved views, Renderworks cameras, sheet layer viewports, classes, materials, textures, lights, backgrounds, and render style resources
Hardware Cloud GPU Vectorworks desktop on supported Windows and macOS systems, with cloud-based workflows available through Vectorworks Cloud Services
Install None Rendering features are accessed within Vectorworks; availability of specific render modes and cloud processing depends on the product, entitlement, system, and setup
Cost from $9/mo Vectorworks access and optional cloud capabilities are offered under terms that vary by product, region, and account eligibility

Questions & Answers

Common solutions for Vectorworks users

A supported browser can submit a clear 2D input without a local rendering GPU.

The current desktop app or browser extension can capture a selected view and send the screenshot into RENDERCAD without a CAD rendering plugin.

With the Realistic engine selected, use Add Instruction to attach an authorized material image and describe how it should guide the render. The reference guides the generated image; it does not modify the native Vectorworks model or guarantee a material match.

Mask individual components and assign color prompts or authorized references. Verify brand color in a color-managed workflow rather than relying on generated accuracy.

Set up masks for each customizable component. Swap material references for each masked region to quickly visualize different product configurations.

Upload a clear image or use a current capture tool, describe carbon fiber, and add an authorized material reference when a specific visual direction matters. Image renders complete in 60 seconds.

Upload a clear image, choose the Realistic engine, and describe a large soft light source or overcast lighting. Generated shadows are visual approximations, not a physical lighting calculation.

Choose the Seamless loop end-frame option to guide the clip toward a looping transition. Review the exported loop because continuity can vary by model and source image.

No local NVIDIA rendering GPU is required. Use a supported browser to upload an image or a current capture tool to select a screenshot; generation runs on cloud infrastructure.

The Render History page lets you browse and download retained images and videos. Storage duration depends on the account plan, so download assets you need before they expire.

Start with a sharp input, choose the Realistic engine, and use 4K when additional output resolution is needed. Higher resolution does not recover source detail that is missing or guarantee geometry fidelity.

The core workflow starts from a selected 2D view, so it does not require native CAD-file conversion or source-model upload.
