When to use RENDERCAD with ReCap

Autodesk ReCap helps reality-capture teams register, inspect, and organize laser-scan point clouds for existing buildings, facilities, sites, and objects. A ReCap project may contain a dense point cloud for spatial review and, for supported structured scans, RealView imagery from a scan position. These views are practical evidence for architecture, construction, surveying, facilities, and heritage work, but their technical appearance can make a presentation difficult for non-specialists to read. RENDERCAD can use a deliberately composed ReCap screenshot to create a presentation-oriented still that communicates the character of a room, facade, equipment area, or site context. It is best suited to project updates, design discussions, proposal concepts, and stakeholder boards where the goal is visual communication alongside the scan. The resulting image should not be used to infer dimensions, verify capture coverage, or replace the ReCap project as the record of existing conditions.

Open the registered ReCap project and decide whether the point cloud or a RealView image gives the clearest explanation of the subject. Isolate the relevant room, elevation, plant area, or exterior zone by hiding unneeded scans or using a Limit Box, then frame a camera angle that preserves recognizable edges and context. RealView is not available for every project, so use the point-cloud view when the project is unstructured or when that view better explains the spatial condition. Capture a clean viewport image with measurement tools, selection states, and other interface clutter removed unless they are needed for the discussion. Upload the selected image to RENDERCAD and direct the result toward a credible lighting, material, or presentation treatment for a single still. Compare the finished visual back to ReCap before sharing it, and retain ReCap for measurements, point inspection, scan registration, and any decision that depends on the captured data.
