Built for Bentley LumenRT

Bentley LumenRT is commercial 64-bit Windows desktop software for building real-time presentations around CAD and BIM designs. It adds terrain, digital nature, people, traffic, lighting, weather, water, and animation. Outputs include still images, video, interactive LiveCubes, and Web Project Tours, with availability varying by edition, release, and license.

  • Explain one route, structure, space, or site relationship.
  • Upload one clean PNG or JPEG from the chosen LumenRT camera.
  • Keep models, scene data, synchronization, animation, and dimensions in their source systems.
  • Most RENDERCAD image runs finish in about 60 seconds.

When to use RENDERCAD with Bentley LumenRT

LumenRT helps people understand how infrastructure may sit in its surroundings. A road approach, bridge, rail station, public realm, waterfront, or landscape scheme can include terrain, planting, traffic, people, water, weather, and daylight context.

A still answers one question. A driver's approach clarifies visibility; a riverbank camera explains a bridge profile; a pedestrian view shows a station entrance. Keep activity subordinate to the route, structure, or space under discussion.

Once that point reads clearly, RENDERCAD can explore quieter surroundings, a different atmosphere, stronger visual hierarchy, or a board-ready composition. It receives one flat PNG or JPEG, not the LiveCube, model, animation, or object data.

Use the original scene as your reference. Set aside images that move alignments, openings, clearances, levels, barriers, or site relationships. Return to model and project records for engineering decisions; both products are presentation tools.

Capture.
Render.
Done.

Start with the source route supported by the installed release. Bentley documents workflows for MicroStation, Revit, and SketchUp, but compatible versions change. Test the pairing before depending on material, layer, attribute, light, or animation updates.

Some releases offer limited iModel loading, including read-only use or Saved Views. This is not universal iTwin synchronization. Desktop LumenRT remains separate from the iTwin platform and LumenRT for NVIDIA Omniverse.

Build the scene in LumenRT: check model placement, terrain, scale cues, materials, vegetation, people, vehicles, water, atmosphere, and motion. LumenRT may present supported SYNCHRO animation, but schedule creation and construction logic remain in SYNCHRO.

Set the camera, hide selections and interface clutter, then make a clean export or screen capture as PNG or JPEG. Upload that image, give a visual instruction, and compare the returned pixels with the source scene.

Mark one visible area

A mask changes visible pixels. It cannot select LumenRT objects, design elements, terrain, plants, traffic, materials, layers, iModel content, camera paths, or SYNCHRO tasks.

Review the scene relationship

Compare the route, structure, openings, levels, barriers, terrain contact, scale cues, and surrounding assets with the original LumenRT camera. Discard versions that change that relationship.

Keep the source files

The original CAD, BIM, and schedule files hold the design data. RENDERCAD changes only the uploaded image and returns illustrative pixels.

Settle one LumenRT camera

Choose the approach, eye-level, elevated, or overview camera that best answers the audience's question. Check terrain, context, weather, lighting, people, traffic, and scene scale before making the flat handoff.

Provide one flat image

Remove interface panels, selections, guides, and private annotations. Make a clean PNG or JPEG by export or screen capture, inspect it at presentation size, and upload that raster.

Bentley LumenRT image questions

Bentley LumenRT sources, outputs, related products, and presentation limits

Yes. Bentley still markets LumenRT as commercial visualization software. Public support material describes a 64-bit Windows desktop application. Check the Windows, hardware, licensing, and source-application requirements for your release.

Bentley's public release knowledge base names LumenRT Pro 2024, but does not prove it is the newest build. Check the Bentley download available to your account.

Bentley documents scene workflows for all three applications, but supported versions differ by LumenRT release. Match the installed versions and test what transfers before relying on synchronization, material mapping, attributes, lights, layers, or animation paths.

Bentley describes still images, videos, LiveCubes, and Web Project Tours. Publishing, security, panoramic, and interactive options vary by edition, release, license, and recipient environment today.

No. Bentley distinguishes desktop LumenRT, which works with CAD and BIM files, from LumenRT for NVIDIA Omniverse, which uses iTwin models with NVIDIA Omniverse. Federated digital-twin and Omniverse features do not belong to the desktop product.

No. Some releases can load iModels or present SYNCHRO animation. iTwin handles digital-twin workflows, while SYNCHRO authors 4D construction schedules and simulations. LumenRT presents them.

No. Provide one flat PNG or JPEG made by clean export or screen capture. RENDERCAD receives no LiveCube, model, materials, layers, object identities, cameras, traffic system, or timeline.

No. Generated pixels may alter geometry, scale cues, materials, planting, traffic, water, lighting, or context. Check dimensions, alignments, clearances, schedule logic, and site conditions in the design model and project records.
