When to use RENDERCAD with Revit Structure

Revit Structure supports structural engineering and detailing work around physical building elements such as columns, beams, braces, slabs, walls, foundations, steel connections, and concrete reinforcement. Those coordinated BIM views are valuable for design and documentation, but a standard working viewport can be hard for a non-engineering audience to read. A clean perspective, section perspective, or cropped 3D view can instead make the structural idea immediately visible: the load path suggested by a braced bay, the relationship between a concrete core and floor framing, a transfer level, an exposed connection zone, or the extent of a foundation package. RENDERCAD can turn that prepared image into a more atmospheric, presentation-oriented still for an architectural coordination meeting, owner update, proposal, or early project story. It is most useful when the Revit view already shows the intended structure and camera clearly. RENDERCAD does not validate member sizing, reinforcement, connections, loads, clashes, or analysis assumptions; Revit and the project team's approved engineering information remain the source of truth.

In Revit Structure or Revit, begin with the physical-model 3D view or section perspective that answers one visual question. For example, frame a steel braced bay with enough adjacent architecture for orientation, isolate a concrete core with the connecting slabs, or crop a foundation zone to reveal the relationship of columns, walls, and grade. Use visibility controls and view settings to remove tags, dimensions, grids, selection highlights, temporary analysis graphics, and unrelated links. Keep only the physical elements and contextual geometry that the audience needs to understand the composition; analytical members, panels, links, loads, and boundary conditions are normally better reserved for engineering review views. Capture a clean, legible viewport at the intended crop. Then use RENDERCAD to explore stronger lighting, material separation, depth, weather, or site context for a presentation still. Compare the result with the original Revit view before sharing, and return to Revit for any design change, coordinated drawing, detail, schedule, or technical decision.

Common solutions for Revit Structure users
