When to use RENDERCAD with Navisworks

Navisworks gives BIM and construction teams a federated model for reviewing work from multiple disciplines in context. A saved viewpoint can preserve the camera, sectioning, visibility, render style, markups, and comments needed to explain a coordination decision. Clash Detective results can also carry viewpoints, while TimeLiner links model objects to schedule tasks for construction and logistics simulations. These technical views are useful in coordination meetings, but they are not always the clearest image for an owner update, design presentation, bid narrative, or site-planning discussion.

Use a carefully framed Scene View as the visual starting point for RENDERCAD when the goal is to make a selected condition easier to read: a congested MEP zone, facade-to-structure interface, temporary works arrangement, access route, or a key construction phase. Keep the Navisworks viewpoint, clash record, and model data as the source of truth. The RENDERCAD image should clarify the approved view for communication, not prove clearance, replace clash testing, or change the coordination decision.

Open the saved viewpoint, a Clash Detective result, or the TimeLiner simulation frame that best explains one decision. Isolate the relevant trades, objects, or construction phase, then set the camera and sectioning so the relationship is legible. Retain color coding only when it helps the audience understand sequence or discipline ownership; remove menus, panels, selection highlights, and other review clutter. Capture a clean Scene View and provide RENDERCAD with the intended treatment, such as daylight, material definition, depth, or a clearer presentation composition. Compare the finished image with the saved Navisworks view before using it in a coordination deck, owner update, logistics review, or field discussion.
